Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Shit was fucking boring.

Nothing was interesting and nothing was full of life in any sense of manner. Ivar didn't know what he wanted but he knew he wanted more than this. This existence was boring that the teenager thought he'd take being hunted down by wolves who wanted him dead, over this. At least that gave him some thrill.

He sat, perched high on a rocky ledge as he angrily gnawed on his bones. Saliva pooled in his lips and dribbled down the bone and dripped onto the ground but he didn't care. Ivar was bored, bored and angry and tired of each day feeling the same. The boy huffed as he shifted the bone so that his paws cupped it better and loud was the scraping of his teeth, his brows furrowed and furious. ^^

It was only fitting that the man who sought to always destroy his bones would come knocking. Ivar's bicoloured gaze glanced up as he paused his activities, slobbering over the bone as he eyed him. Half-Face was standing right there. He was frowning, of course. Miriam? Ivar's features coloured with a storm as he resumed his prior activities gnawing on the bone.

In truth, he wasn't entirely sure what had happened with Miriam. He had no idea where she was. "Gone," the boy muttered as he pulled back to glance to Half-Face. "Lost," he corrected. That was... better suited. "All lost," Ivar knew where none of them were. ^^

He looked to Half-face with irritation at his demand, his nose crinkling as he thought to just ignore him -- but his bones were precious and Half-face had habits. "Left, chose to go different ways," the Viking-born sneered as he drew his tongue then against his lips. "Where? Don't know," and he had no reason to go with any of them. Miriam's disappearance had been sour upon his tongue yet he had not found himself itching to try and find her.

To find any of them.

What was lost was lost and clearly it had not been a place for him to be, not properly. Where that was, the adolescent had no idea. ^^

He didn't understand the mans response and Ivar didn't seek to try. His multicoloured eyes watched him yet he didn't seek to ask any questions. He was unlikely to have any answers, anyway. The ones he had already given happened to be the extent of his knowledge on the subject anyway. Half-face seemed to turn back to him, words spoken almost forcefully.

Ivar appraised him through narrowed eyes, wondering what good it did the older man to tell Ivar of a potential pack who might accept him. "No place," the boy grunted, "for Ivar." The Wayfarers had been a bust, hadn't they? He rolled his shoulders, "no place for Half-face?" The boy asked lowly, noting the lack of a pack scent upon the other man.

He had left. He had left before the rest and in the end, the others had followed Rosen's footsteps. Perhaps the wolves of the Wayfarers weren't meant for more than their own company. Ivar supposed that meant him, too. ^^

Suspicion crawled through the boy as the man gave him the ability to use his name, almost a correction of demand. His gaze narrowed as he looked to him, "Bone Crusher." Ivar corrected, almost sassily as he held the bones to him possessively. "Rosencrantz." The boy supplied after, still keeping his gaze suspicious as he eyed him. He was borderline pleasant.

Why?

He had taken great pleasure in ensuring his misery by destroying his bones. Before, anyway.

Ivar recoiled as the man spoke of this pack, the one lead by this Sorina and he looked almost guarded as he eyed the man. "Wolves disappoint," the boy stated roughly but gave a dip  of his head. He supposed he could think on it. He wasn't willing to give his loyalty without a care, though, and supposed even if he did join -- if it didn't suit his desires, he would leave.

He flared his nose in thought. "Rosencrantz joins," the boy stated, "Haldis." He tilted his head, eyes still narrowed, "why?" ^^

As the man turned to expose just what more wolves had done, Ivar ears twitched. His words were useless agreements because his face answered it all, the savagery that had happened to the ivory man all the evidence needed. He nodded, not changed by the way even more flesh was missing and gums and teeth exposed, he had seen gory battles on his fathers men. He knew that Rosen had gone through a lot of pain with his new badge of proof of his survival -- enough to make Ivar not seek to fall back into step with what they had once been. Annoyances to each other on purpose.

Something akin to respect gleamed in his eyes.

Ivar could not argue the logic behind the older mans words and he would tuck the advice away, wanting to think on it before he attempted to give any type of loyalty to another set of wolves. His loyalty was earned now, no longer given by the idea of a mother figure. Ivar nodded, "I think," he rumbled, he wasn't dismissing it but he would think on it. "...Thanks," the boy spoke to the man as he walked away.

Perhaps they would meet again, sometime soon. ^^
