Grumble had been wandering through the lands, hunting wasn't going as well as she hoped. An odd scent had caught her interest however. Something rotten and gross to most. But to her who had walked through the shadows of the valley of death...it was literal treasure. The smell of carrion could never be appalling or unremarkable to her. For it taught Grumble a secrete few had ever realized. Death was not eternal. Like life, death had it's own foes to watch out for, and that foe was time itself. Time would erase all of deaths marks and accomplishments in this world. Because of this she did not take it for granted, knew that every second counted.
Thus she made for the carcass with haste. Even scavengers had seemed to abandon the kill, a mighty bull elk that once roam the earth. Still, her experience eye saw plenty left that was appealing to her. Jerky skin and marrow trapped in bones with hidden crannies of meat to find underneath. Plenty of ort left in her opinion. Before she feasted she could not help but find herself staring at the skull of the elk. She remembered the event she had attended in Elkshire. These creatures were apparently worshiped, as she was reminded recently with her encounter with Nikitas. Why would they not eat such tasty creatures. Grumble hoped that if she stared long and hard enough that she would find an answer to the question.
For some odd reason, the longer she stared at it, the angrier she got. Why was something that was not a wolf valued so much? More than she had ever been? Why could she not be valued and loved in this way? Being childish, she could not help but stick her tongue at the dead elk.
