Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Malolo walked pleasantly down the shore, gazing out at the water as he went, a descent sized fish hanging from his teeth. It flopped two and fro to the bounce of his step, occasionally dribbling out a spot of blood or saliva. It was a decent day, albeit it a bit cloudy and windy, but a nice day nonetheless.

He spied a nice spot in the sun upon on a rock where he clambered up, rather ungracefully, and laid down. The man didn't wait too long to begin digging into his fish, tearing through the scales, chewing and swallowing the ones he could and spitting the scraps down onto the sand below him.

// I'm sorry it took so long for me to get to this!!

It was weird, returning to the ocean. Hawkes couldn't quite say he missed it, but there was something nostalgic about it all. The cool sea breeze, the salt in the air, the water filling his lungs...

But no. There was no water in his lungs anymore - hadn't been since before he got here. He still had the feeling it was why he got here in the first place, but he had no way to prove that to himself or anyone else.

It was a nice day to walk on the beach, and Hawkes' ears perked when he caught wind of a delightful fish-blood scent. He perused his way down until he spotted the stranger and his prize.

“Ya got a good one,” he pointed out lazily, eyes half-lidded.

no worries at all!

The man could hear the crunch of the sand as the stranger approached but, felt comfortable enough on his sun-touched rock that he chose to stay. His orange eyes would glance over the appearance of the other, observing a pleasantly faced wolf, and a smile would crest his maw.

”Ai!” He vehemently agreed to the other’s comment. The sea-wolf’s tail wagged behind him, both in appreciation towards the recognition of his catch, but also the interaction with another. It had been some time since he had seen another wolf on the beach.

“I happen to have enough to share, care for half?” Malolo offered kindly, his ears flicked forward, waiting patiently for a yes or no. His paw would lift and point towards the half of the fish he hadn’t gnawed on yet, further emphasizing the tantalizing opportunity of the fish.
