Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

The rising sun wrapped the world in gold.

Within those radiant lights of sunrise, Morgan opened her eyes for the first time in a long time. A bed of grass her cradle and the sky above her never-ending ceiling. These moments made life real sweet. It made the unknown surroundings a lot easier to swallow too. Maybe that last thunk on her head had done her in real good.

It was better to wake up here rather than underground.

“Up and at 'em,” A tired grumble to herself as she stood upright from her grass-flattened bed. The world would stop for no one, not even Morgan Jo.

Might as well feed herself and poke around, instead of moping.

Callahan reawoke in his grove, but something felt off. He had found Maisy and Dara some time ago, met some feller, and had felt his life was fallin' into a good place. Cal had a family again, even if it were only two members of the gang, but he had them with him. He had a purpose to live and now. Now, it was gone. Cal was alone again; this time, he wasn't sure it'd be fixed.

Callahan ambled through the golden fields without purpose, unsure what to do with himself. He was a man driven by purpose, but what was he supposed to do without it? What could he do alone?

While the man went about the meadow, focusing on his thoughts and looming fears, he hadn't noticed the golden figure traipsing in the distance.

The scent wasn't one that was going to sate her hunger.

Which was a goddamn issue, but one she'd tackle after she found this one. The biggest problem was how large the fella was when she laid eyes on him. Taller than her already own tall height. He was built like he was made to run things over. God she would have hated to be on the wrong side of him.

“Howdy,” She drawled warmly from a safe distance. Yet her features were tentatively sly, a smirk instead of a smile. “This your huntin' ground? Got camp nearby?”

If the answer was yes, she'd have to figure out if he was worth gambling on or if she'd be better hitting the trail already.
