She cracked open an eye. The healer, Tove. Right. They’d put her nearby, where she could have better access to her patient. Merel was sure Tove was thrilled about that fact. (Not.) Still, she offered her a small smile as she sat up, wincing as her paw grazed the ground. She realized, suddenly, that they would be all covered in dirt from her midnight adventure.
Mentally, she braced herself for a scolding.
“Well, good morning,” Merel said cheerfully. “Glad you decided not to suffocate me in my sleep.”
