Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

lonan doesn't know how she arrived or even when, for a moment the world was a different scene, and then she blinked. before her was the forest, and yet not. buildings of unknown origins, opening she saw into a blank darkness where all was enshrouded by overgrown fines. the place though smelled finely of wolves, but not any that seemed familiar to the young crows mind.

where was she?

in the night she stood in the midst of labyrinthian, her whites idly staring, for anything that moved. but all was still for the fine few moments.

quietly she turned, a man approached. not lunging within aggression or a mockery, but an odd calmness as he approached. he was large for lonan, mixed with but pure whites and blacks and a looking of a purple gaze. she blinked lightly, vaguely knowing she does not think she ever met anyone with such a look ; but couldn't say she remembered much anyway. a family, something elsewhere? mist that took and swarmed, blinking once then next, and now in an overgrown rooted forest.

it did bring a question though, were they lost?

"no."

because they didn't wander into here.

a hovering behemoth to that of a young child ; drenched by the the night and a deep amethyst gaze, unlike their own colorless look. somewhere in the midst of all that was heaven and hell, lonan ended in some pack, some place she knew not. not abandoned, not kidnapped — not even a memory to say what else, "yes."

she looked around again, a moment of thought if someone would come forth and claim the child. although lolan wasn't sure who they were expecting, a nagging feeling that a memory wouldn't come forth and once more smelled no one beside herself, and those of the proclaimed labrynthian that this stranger, claimed it was called. but no one did come, and there was no one else offering a safe home.

she did not know how to hunt, how to forage, how to do anything.. here was safer, then anywhere else, "okay."

she didn't move away from the unfamiliar licking, but stared at him eerily. a strange man to accept a random child from no where, "i remember lonan," so she said. not something felt warm to touch or another that she owned, but a matter of fact of light memorince of what was 'lonan,' and nothing more. maybe in another time she'd take a new and different one, or granted one altogether, but for the meanwhile.. it will do.

"i don't know anything else." there could be a lot lonan could be called, but none that felt was on a personal level. even her name itself was but a distant attachment, a label one way or another to give something to the shadow. a pessimistic little child she was, but that was all there was.
